My Life Is A Stereo

I did it! I posted pictures! Here's me thinking it was all hard and everything. I swear, when I first set up this blog, I thought it said that your pictures had to be on a url somewhere, and I'm like, Dude, if they were already posted on the internet somewhere, why in the name of Jennifer Jason Leigh would I need to post them again??

Anyhow, these are from our camping trip to Lake St. Peter in August 2006. The first one is of Mikey in the truck, as we stopped to take pictures of the tornado damage in Combermere. I love that picture and actually have it framed in black and white at home.

The third picture is of Mikey having some of Shaun's beer. Nice.

The second picture up top is of Mikey taking a swim in.. can you guess the name? Why, that's right, it's Lake St. Peter! He found this stick and would bring it back to us but wouldn't let go... Which leads me to the very bottom picture, where he's pulling me into the water and really, really not letting go of that stick. Gimme a break, he's 100 lbs. and my arms are like noodles. You do the math.

Movie Reviews: Man Of The Year and The Departed

See, when we go to the movies, we tend to go in spurts and see a bunch at once. I find it frustrating that there will be seemingly "nothing good" in the theatres for months, then they all come out at the same time.

So last Friday night we went to see "Man Of The Year" starring Robin Williams and Laura Linney. I love, LOVE Robin Williams, and this film was nice because you actually got to see him doing some stand-up in it, which he really is the best at. (Side note: we have his Live on Broadway DVD and holy crap I have never laughed so hard in my life.) Laura Linney kind of irritates me a bit, I don't know why, but she still did a good job. Not really a conceivable plot, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The guy who played Laura Linney's boyfriend was kind of cute. Oh! And Jeff Goldblum was in it and he was GOOD. He plays a lawyer and does it very well; he plays a good hard-ass.

Then Saturday night we went to see "The Departed" with Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Sheen. I have to first admit my undying love for Marky Mark. It goes way back to his Calvin Klein underwear ads, one of which I still have in a scrapbook somewhere. That ad was posted up in my high school locker for all 5 years. I might as well have laminated it.

Anyhow, movie! It was really good, and kept you guessing right up to the very end. A bit on the gory side, but you can pretty much expect that based on the previews; you get the sense it's somewhat of a "mafia" movie. I would definately buy a copy on DVD, maybe because I like mafia-type movies, maybe because I love Mark Wahlberg, or maybe just because the movie was that good. You can come to your own conclusions on that one :)

Now if I can get my arse in gear maybe I can get Shaun to show me how to post pictures! I have our Montreal pics to post, and some of the basement makeover!
